About the Plymouth Area

Thank you for your interest in joining our community and serving the residents of the Plymouth area. The town of Plymouth is the geographic center of New Hampshire, located between the lakes and the mountains. To the north is Rumney and Campton, to the east is Holderness and Ashland, to the south is Bridgewater and Hebron, and to the west is Groton. Plymouth’s only village is West Plymouth.

Town highlights:

Plymouth: As college town, Plymouth has a vibrant main street and a multitude of activities for young people. While in town experience a Pemi-Baker River Adventure, hike to Livermore Gorge or Ski Tenny Mountain. Don’t forget to visit The Common Man Restaurants throughout the Plymouth region to get a taste of NH and the Flying Monkey Movie house & Performance Center!

Alexandria: This small rural village is located within the Pemigewasset River Watershed. Visit Cardigan Mountain Orchard and go apple picking. Don’t forget to pick up sweet cider, homemade jams, apple butter and much more.

Bridgewater/Bristol: These small rural communities are the Gateway to Newfound Lake. Bristol contains the largest public beach on Newfound and Wellington State Park.

Holderness: Squam Lake and the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center can be found in Holderness. Through spectacular live animal exhibits, natural science education programs and lake cruises, Squam Lakes Science Center has educated and enlightened visitors for over forty years about our natural world!

Lincoln: Lincoln is home to Loon Mountain Resort, one of New England’s most accessible mountain resorts, with 56 trails, 7 tree skiing areas and 7 award-winning terrain parks. They’re also home to the Adventure Center with cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, indoor climbing and a day/night tubing center. During the summer and fall, Loon features NH’s longest scenic gondola skyride, horseback riding, bungee trampoline, mountain bike rentals and tours. While in Lincoln don’t forget to visit Clark’s Trading Post and see the Indian Head rock formation!

Rumney: Rumney is home to the Polar Caves, these caves were formed about fifty thousand years ago as the third continental glacier descended over New Hampshire’s White Mountains. When the ice retreated, it left behind an amazing series of caves and passageways for visitors to explore. Self-guided tours take you to the rock garden, nature trails and through the caves!

Waterville Valley: Waterville Valley is a historic town surrounded by 700,000 acres of national forest. Today, it’s also a full-featured resort with skiing, golf, tennis, skateboarding, ice skating, hiking, biking and cultural activities that range from bluegrass festivals to Shakespeare-under-the-stars.
